Electronics don’t get recycled: how to do your part

Electronics continues to be improved, leaving outdated devices collecting dust in the drawer, or worse, directly to the landfill. The problem? Electronic waste (also known as e-waste) increases at a worrying level, with only about 17.4% Electronic Waste Recycled correctly around the world. The rest? It contributes to environmental hazards, leaking harmful chemicals into the soil and water.

In the lab, we see firsthand how fast the technology changes, and we are here to help you make responsible decisions when it’s time to part with your old gadget.

Why is an important e-waste recycling

Electronics contain valuable materials such as copper, gold, and aluminum, which can be restored and reused. However, they also have dangerous substances such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, which can pollute the environment if not discarded properly.

Recycling prevents toxic waste from polluting our planets and reduces the need for extraction of raw materials.
