Hey, let’s discuss about How iOS Surveillance Controls VPN Configuration for Better Security. This policy controls whether users can create VPN configurations on their devices iPhone or iPad. If the policy is set to false, the device will block users from adding new VPN settings. This gives organizations better control over network access.

VPN is used to connect private network securely via the internet. If someone creates a VPN without permission, they may reach out website or system which is not permitted by the organization. They can also hide their online activities security check. By blocking new VPN settings, this policy ensures the network remains secure and follows company rules.

this policy only works on supervised deviceswhich means the device fully managed by schools, companies, or organizations. Oversight gives administrators more control over settings and restrictions. This ensures the device follows suit correct security policies and only used for trusted and approved purposes.

This policy is supported on iOS 11 and later version, which covers most devices in use today. Since Apple regularly update the operating systemThis policy also continues to apply to newer versions. This helps organizations maintain consistency and strong security on all Apple devices they manage.

How iOS Surveillance Controls VPN Configuration for Better Security

This policy provides better protection for supervised devices by preventing users from making risky network changes. This reduces possible data theft or security attacks via unknown VPN connections. This gives IT administrators confidence that the device stay safe and always follow the organization’s internet and security guidelines.

How it Helps Supervised Devices

This policy helps supervised device by stopping users from adding their own VPN Settings. Only schools or companies can set up a VPN. This is guarding secure device from hackers and unwanted applications. It ensures the device always uses the correct and secure network selected by the organization.

Create a Profile

Go in first Microsoft Intune admin center. Go to Devices and select it Configuration profile. Then click Create a profile to open the profile creation window. Choose platforms And profile type then, click Make to start configuring your new policy.

First Step

To start configuring policies in Intune, start with Basics step. Here, we can add name (Allow VPN Creation) policy and provide a brief explanation information(To allow VPN Creation). Then click Next to continue.

Configuration Settings

In Configuration settings tab, click Add settings button to open the Settings selector. Search for the category Restrictions or type VPN creation. Then, select the settings Allow VPN creation.

Once you select Force Limit Ad Tracking and close the Settings selector. You will see it in Configuration page. Here we have only two settings: True or false. By default, it will be set to FALSE. If you want to block this setting, click it Next knob.

Block VPN Creation

If we blocked or any of these policies, you can block the VPN Creation policy with y toggle the switch. Then you can click Next button to continue.

Scope Tag

In Intune, Scope Tag used to control who can see and change policies. The coverage tag is not mandatory, so you can skip this part. It serves as a tool for organizations and access management, but assigning them is optional. Click Next to continue.

Task

In Tasks TabYou select the users or devices to receive the policy by clicking Add Group under Include Groups, select the groups you want to target (for example HTMD Monitored Device – iOS/iPadOs) then click Next to continue.

Final Step

In the final Review + Create step, we see a summary of all the settings configured for the new profile; after reviewing the details and making the necessary changes by clicking Previously. We click Make to complete, and a notification confirms that “Allow VPN Creation to be created successfully”.

Device Check-in Status

When the policy is successfully created, you can synchronization device on Company portal for faster deployment. Once the sync is complete, you can check status in the Intune Portal. Go to Device > Configuration and look for the policy.

How to Check End User Devices

To check this policy on an end user’s device, go to Arrangement and open it VPN & Device Management section. Try adding a new VPN profile. If the option to create or add VPN blocked or invisible, meaning the policy is active on the monitored device. This confirms that users cannot set it themselves VPN connection.

How to Remove an Assigned Group from a VPN Creation Policy

After creating a policy, if you want to delete a specific group that you selected earlier, you can do so easily. First, go to Device > Configuration policies. In the Configuration policies section, search for and select it policy. In the Tasks section you will find Edit choice and click on. Then, click Delete choice.

How to Remove VPN Creation Policy from Intune

If you want delete this policy for any reason, you can do it easily. First, look for for this policy Name in configuration section. When you find the policy name, you will see a 3 points menu next to it. Click on the 3 dots, then click Delete knob.
